Every Washington Wizards fan cringed when Bradley Beal left their preseason contest with the New York Knicks in the first quarter on Friday due to a knee contusion. Thankfully, the injury doesn't look to be serious. Beal returned to practice on Monday ahead of the Wizards' season opener against the Toronto Raptors. Via David Aldridge of The Athletic:

As Aldridge mentioned, the X-ray came back negative which is great news for the Wizards. Beal is looking to put together another historic season after averaging 31.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in 2020-21. It was the second-straight season that he dropped more than 30 points a night.

Washington's roster is certainly looking different this time around as well after shipping Russell Westbrook to LA for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Montrezl Harrell, who will be getting a fresh start in DC. Spencer Dinwiddie also joined forces with Beal and Co. The Wizards did go 0-4 in preseason action, but there's certainly a sense of optimism around the team with a revamped squad.

Rui Hachimura is also back with the Wizards after spending most of the preseason away from the organization due to personal reasons. Washington made it to the first round of the NBA Playoffs last season but was knocked out by the Philadelphia 76ers in five games. Bradley Beal will have to be at his absolute best in order to get DC back in the postseason picture in 2022.
