As the New York Yankees look to continue their dominance in the 2022 season, they have reshuffled their bullpen arms by making a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates and placing one of their promising youngsters on the injured list.

The Yankees announced that they have traded left-handed pitcher Manny Bañuelos to the Pirates for cash. The 31-year-old was DFA'd earlier this week and now finds himself in Pittsburgh, which could use some more help in the bullpen.

In 8.1 innings this season, his first with the Yankees, Bañuelos had a 2.16 ERA with eight strikeouts. He allowed seven hits and three walks.

New York also placed Ron Marinaccio on the 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation. The 27-year-old, right-handed rookie has a 2.33 ERA in 19.1 innings this season. Fortunately, his injury doesn't seem to be very severe. Manager Aaron Boone said that the move to the IL is purely out of precaution, according to ESPN.

“Ronnie's kind of a younger guy and going through the grind of a major league season for the first time, that instead of just pushing through this right now and maybe be a lingering issue, we felt like it was best to give him these few days to keep him as strong and fresh as possible.”

The Yankees' remarkable pitching has been one of the biggest reasons why they own the best record in baseball by a wide margin. Even with the struggles from Aroldis Chapman, their bullpen has been very solid this season thanks to Clay Holmes, Michael King and Wandy Peralta.
