Dirk Nowitzki has spent nearly two decades in the NBA, which has created an endless list of personal stories about him over his illustrious career.

In a recent piece by Jonathan Abrams of Bleacher Report, Zaza Pachulia recounted a humorous story about his former Dallas Mavericks teammate regarding his athletic ability.

Zaza Pachulia: “All day, every day, he'd joke. Especially the older he got, his joking skills got better because obviously he can't run and he can't jump anymore on the court. That's why he started talking more. You know, a lot of times, he's complaining about everything. Because his athletic ability is not there now, his complaining ability kicked in.”

Nowitzki has never been touted for his athletic ability as it has been quite the opposite throughout much of his career. In fact, it has only increased in that direction over the last few years as it has become more evident that his best physical days are behind him.

The fact that he is talking more is a way of compensating from for his lack of athletic ability on the court. There may be playfulness with his increased yammering as it could be his way of connecting himself to the game and getting into his opponent's head.

Nowitzki's game has never truly relied upon athletic ability to be an effective scorer. This has allowed for him to continue to impact the game in a positive way despite just turning 39-years-old. With his career winding down, it gives fans a chance to truly appreciate the type of unique player has been throughout his career.
