NBA G League Ignite swingman Jonathan Kuminga is off the board after the Golden State Warriors selected him with the No. 7 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft.

After serving as a high school standout and one of the best all-around players in the country as a senior back in 2019-20, Kuminga ultimately elected to forgo the collegiate ranks en route to signing with the NBA G League and the Ignite team.

Kuminga notably played alongside another 2021 NBA Draft lottery pick in guard Jalen Green, who also decided to surpass the collegiate threshold in favor of the Ignite this past season. Green has since been selected by the Houston Rockets with the No. 2 overall pick on Thursday evening.

The 18-year-old Kuminga, who is of Congolese descent, stands at 6'8″ while weighing 210 pounds. He possesses the ability to play both forward positions since his size allows him to serve as a small forward or power forward. Despite transferring from high school to high school, Kuminga served as a consensus five-star recruit before making the decision to play for the NBA G League instead of a major collegiate program.

As a member of the Ignite in 2020-21, Kuminga averaged 15.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal. Playing a whopping 32.8 minutes as well, the up-and-coming swingman appeared in 13 games for the Ignite in addition to starting each of those contests. It is worth noting, though, that the NBA rookie did not shoot particularly well from the field for the Ignite, as Kuminga produced a field goal percentage of 38.7.
