The NFL season is officially underway and a new free-agent wide receiver has hit the market. According to Adam Schefter, Josh Gordon has completed his NFL-monitored treatment program and could be reinstated soon. Of course, Gordon must await approval from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before a team can sign the veteran receiver.

It's been an interesting career for Gordon, but this type of report is nothing new. We've seen him pass the tests before to sign with an NFL franchise just to turn around and fail another drug test. We'll see how this plays out though, as there should be some teams still interested in Josh Gordon.

There are some wide receiver needy franchises in the league right now, some of which are playoff contenders. Although he hasn't played since 2019, the speedster will garner interest if Goodell gives Gordon the green light. He can immediately help a team and at the very least, upgrade the depth in the receiving core. With that said, here are the three best Josh Gordon landing spots.

Best Josh Gordon Landing Spots

3. New Orleans Saints

Michael Thomas found himself on the IR after receiving surgery late in the offseason. He's supposed to come back later in the year, but it's not a guarantee. The New Orleans Saints have a group of receivers that aren't the best in the league, as they're using a bunch of prospect receivers right now. Adding Josh Gordon could be a big move for New Orleans, as he'd bring a veteran presents to a team that needs it.

On top of that, Jameis Winston is the starting quarterback and he loves to sling it downfield. Couple that with Gordon's speed and the Saints could open up their passing game even more. Keep an eye on New Orleans, as they could emerge as the favorites to sign Gordon.

2. Green Bay Packers

It's no secret the wide receiver room is lacking outside of Davante Adams. Considering the rest of the roster is stacked, the Green Bay Packers should highly consider bringing in Josh Gordon. He'd serve as an excellent deep ball threat for Aaron Rodgers while drawing some attention away from Adams.

Although the Packers were routed in Week 1, Green Bay is still very much in the playoff race. Bringing in Gordon would show the league they're coming for the Super Bowl. It might take some time for Gordon and Rodgers to get acquainted, but once they connect, Green Bay's offense would become much more deadly.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

Do the Kansas City Chiefs really need more weapons? Between Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes is able to operate at a high level. However, it is noteworthy how much of a drop-off there is in production outside of Mahomes' favorite two targets. Mecole Hardman has been a disappointment, while the rest of the receiving room is mediocre at best.

Gordon gives the Chiefs a nice deep threat that spreads out the field even more. Mahomes is uncanny in the pocket and would find Gordon streaking down the sideline with no problem. This would also allow for Hill and Kelce to get open more often as if they need that help. Look for Kansas City to potentially show interest, as the front office failed to sign any new receivers in the offseason.
