Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas is set to enter free agency this offseason and will likely be one of the most highly sought after players on the market. The San Francisco 49ers might be a team to watch when it comes to his free agency process.

While many expect Thomas to sign with the Dallas Cowboys due to the reported mutual interest between the two sides in the past, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox feels that Thomas will join Richard Sherman with the 49ers.

Sherman himself has already said that he would love playing with Thomas again:

“Would I love to play with Earl Thomas III? I would love to,” Sherman said, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I would love to have him back in the locker room. But I’m sure he’ll have a plethora of opportunities, and I’m sure we’re going to throw our hat in the ring.”

Thomas played in just three games this season due to a broken leg, but he was already unhappy with the Seahawks prior to the injury, so it seems hard to imagine him re-signing in Seattle.

When healthy, Thomas is one of the best defensive backs in the league, as he has made six Pro Bowl and has been named a First-Team All-Pro three times.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Texas, was originally selected by the Seahawks in the first round (14th pick overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Thomas has been a staple in Seattle's secondary ever since, helping lead the team to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, including a victory over the Denver Broncos during the 2013-14 campaign.
