Brand synergy is a beautiful thing, and AEW knows brand synergy all too well.

From ex-roster member Cody Rhodes' game and reality show excursions, to the gloriously goofy Elite Space Jam 2 tie-in, these collaborations can be strange at times, but they're also a good sign that Tony Khan's promotion and their TV partner, Warner Bros. Discovery, are working together.

Well, as reported by Dave Meltzer in the most recent Observer Newsletter, the AEW faithful can look forward to some more brand synergy, this time involving the summer staple of programming known as Shark Week.

That's right, Meltzer is reporting “heavy involvement” from the AEW roster in the festivities, with promos and even a gimmick match in the works.

It can be said that in a promotion with stuffed-to-the-gills TV programs, often leading to somewhat rushed and underdeveloped storytelling on-camera, having to reserve precious TV time for a brand tie-in may not be the best idea. However, again, if it means a better working relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery, it is a necessary thing to do, not to mention all of the possibilities for an at least entertaining match.

Considering how AEW used a Godzilla vs. Kong tie-in match to put Jurassic Express – representing Godzilla – and Bear Country – representing Kong – against each other, could we see something similar? Could we see Jungleboy again, this time fighting a shark stand-in? Could Impact's recently returning Shark Boy make an appearance, bringing interpromotional synergy on top of brand synergy?

There are also plenty of opportunities for wild gimmick matches. How about a shark cage match? Could we see an Elimination Chamber-style match with multiple cages that open up to a Wardlow-type monster in the center?

The possibilities are endless, and we probably won't know the details until we get closer to late July, but the AEW X Shark Week collaboration should at least be interesting.
