The Phoenix Suns and Alan Williams have agreed to a three-year deal worth $17 million deal, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The 24-year-old was a restricted free agent and had received interest from the New York Knicks, but never truly materialized. This left the Suns as the only reported suitor for Williams' services along with the ability to match any offer sheet presented to him in free agency.

It had been originally reported that Phoenix presented Williams a four-year contract with an annual salary that ranged from $5 to $6 million. It appears that the front office took that deal off the table and signing him to a more team-friendly deal.

The Suns had entered free agency hoping to make a big splash eyeing All-Star forwards Blake Griffin and Paul Millsap, but were unable to work out a deal with either. However, each decided to sign with the L.A. Clippers and Denver Nuggets, respectively.

In his second year in the league, Williams averaged 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in only 15.1 minutes per contest in 47 games played. He will likely assume a similar role next season off the bench with the Suns behind  Marquese Chriss and compete for playing time with Dragan Bender.
