On Saturday night, people tuned in to watch the pay-per-view boxing event between Jake Paul and Ben Askren. There was some hype built up around the fight, as a lot of people wanted to see Paul finally lose. Instead, we witnessed Paul win via knockout in the first round.

Askren took to Twitter soon after the bout ended, offering an apology to the world for his loss. Considering Askren has been in professional fighting for most of his adult life (albeit, he's more of a wrestler than anything else), the bout ended in an embarrassing defeat for Askren.

Ben Askren's apology was short:

Sorry world, indeed. Many paid money to finally see Jake Paul receive what he has been deserving for quite some time. Instead, we witnessed a joke of a performance from the former MMA fighter. After the bout ended, many took to Twitter to express their skepticism of the legitimacy of the fight. Even UFC legend Daniel Cormier had some questions about the fight after seeing Askren walking back to the locker room:

Doesn't really look like a guy who's sorry for losing a fight. Based on Askren's posture and smiling face, there is some validity to the idea of Askren taking a dive.

Either way, both Jake Paul and Ben Askren got a nice little paycheck for this circus act. Paul is likely to set up another fight in the future, but hopefully this time, he takes on someone who actually knows how to box. As for Askren, he's likely back at home and enjoying retirement once again.
