Portland Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu is expected to miss two to three weeks with a right ankle sprain, according to Casey Holdahl of Blazers.com.

The lanky forward rolled his ankle during Wednesday's loss to the Utah Jazz, and was forced to sit out Thursday's victory over the Los Angeles Lakers — seen joyous, yet in crutches after a hard-fought 113-110 win.

Al-Farouq Aminu had a brilliant start to his season, inhaling double-digit rebounds and giving plenty at the defensive end of the ball, before dwindling down in recent games.

His ability to switch from the power forward position to small forward, as well as his help side defense, will be missed within a team that is trying to make a push early in the season.

The Chief averaged 9.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals in 30 minutes through the Blazers' first eight contests of this young season. He's dealt with minor setbacks in the past and has come back right into the Blazers' rotation, so expect him to do so yet again once he recovers fully.

Noah Vonleh started at power forward in his stead on Thursday, going scoreless in 15 minutes. He should be expected to notch the start from here on out, but the Blazers are likely to play small, with rookie Caleb Swanigan getting the occasional minutes.
