The Portland Trail Blazers have already had a busy offseason and free agency hasn't even come yet. They moved on from Terry Stotts and brought in Chauncey Billups to take the reins and have been filled with endless Damian Lillard trade rumors. Now the Blazers are bringing in former Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks to join Billups' staff, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

This comes as a mild surprise, especially since Brooks was linked to the Los Angeles Lakers assistant job that opened when Jason Kidd went to join the Mavericks. However, he is going to Portland and teaming up with Billups and Lillard as they fight for any possible way to bring a championship home to the city.

Brooks has a lot of experience and will prove as a valuable asset to Billups' staff. Of course, their tall task is finding a way to compete right away before Lillard becomes disgruntled and asks for a trade, which would be devastating for the franchise as a whole.

With free agency around the corner and their coaching staff getting set into place, they should be very active on the trade market and when the clock strikes for free agents to negotiate a deal as they aim for a Western Conference title– and more.
