Damian Lillard has been doubted since day one. Fortunately for the Portland Trail Blazers star, he's more than confident in himself and his ability.

In fact, according to Lillard, he has been able to use all the criticisms and negativity as fuel and motivation to bring him to where he is now.

“My mindset was always to prove people wrong,” Damian Lillard told Blazers teammate Carmelo Anthony in the latter's What's In Your Glass show on YouTube, per Bleacher Report.

The five-time All-Star has risen from a two-star prospect out of Oakland Senior High School to being one of the elite guards in the NBA today. This 2020, he also made it as one of the cover athletes for NBA 2K21.

In his eighth season as the Blazers' main gunner, the 30-year old has led his franchise to six straight playoff appearances — with the hopes of making it to the postseason for a seventh straight time.

“What it came down to is that real belief that I had in myself and refusing to be denied,” the Blazers star added. “I didn't really listen to a whole lot of what people had to say that was negative.”

Whether he's missing key free throws down the stretch or making series-winning threes from the logo, Lillard's mindset has been unwavering and locked in.

Dame has been on one heck of a journey, and it seems that the best is yet to come for him. People can keep doubting him, but it sure looks like he's ready to continuously prove them wrong.
