Portland Trail Blazers All-Star Damian Lillard got furious after the referees did not call an obvious goaltend by Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert on an attempted game-tying lay-in.

With less than 20 seconds left on the clock, a made basket would have tied the game. Instead, the no-call cost the Blazers a heartbreaking 117-114 loss against the Jazz.

It was tough to accept the outcome that would have obviously gone the other way, especially given Lillard’s 42-point performance. In fact, his brilliant scoring this game is only part of his impressive streak at an average of 40.8 points over Portland’s last 10 matchups.

The clear goaltend did not go unnoticed, with several NBA players reacting to the no-call. Dallas Mavericks All-star Luka Doncic noticed the officiating blunder and took to Twitter to comment on the game.

Enes Kanter also seemed to be furious on the game’s outcome.

Several other players also tweeted quips, including Jusuf Nurkic and JR Smith.

ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski commented on the missed call, calling it “sloppy officiating”:

Hard to miss a call worse than officials did on a Gobert goaltend of a Lillard drive and lay-in in final seconds of a brutal loss. Back-to-back at altitude in Utah, bench depleted — just a hellacious end. Orlando on Thursday, Portland tonight. Sloppy run of NBA officiating.

After the disappointing loss, Damian Lillard and the Blazers are now 24-28, putting them two and half games behind the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies. The Jazz, on the other hand, snapped their five-game skid and are now 33-18 for the fourth seed in the West.
