The bad news for Ohio State entering their matchup on Saturday against Akron is that starting quarterback CJ Stroud will be used only if there's an “emergency” scenario for the Buckeyes because of a shoulder injury. The good news is that they have two pretty good young backup quarterbacks and that Akron shouldn't pose a huge threat.

According to 247Sports, Ohio State head coach announced on The Ryan Day Show that they will rest Stroud and use both Jack Miller and Kyle McCord against Akron.

Stroud suffered the injury for Ohio State against Tulsa in the Buckeyes' 41-20 win. Following the game, Stroud addressed his sore shoulder.

“It hurts, but life hurts,” Stroud said after Saturday's 41-20 win over Tulsa. “Winning is tough. I just have to grind through it. There’s been plenty of guys here who have grinded through injuries and I mean, that’s just playing football. You’re never at 100 percent after that first game.”

Day believes both backup quarterbacks for Ohio State are more than capable of stepping up big time, via Bucknuts.

“I think someone said that we have a really hard problem because we have so many great young quarterbacks,” Day said. “Well, we have to find the quarterbacks who can play. And one thing that wouldn’t be good is if we didn’t have any quarterbacks. That’s a problem. Having good young quarterbacks is not a problem.”

Ohio State will try out and use bot Miller and McCord and hopefully be able to rest Stroud's shoulder all afternoon. Throwing to Chris Olave makes life a lot easier for all the quarterbacks involved.
