Following the $55,000 sale of Michael Jordan’s game-worn shoes recently, another NBA legend saw his uniform auctioned and purchased at a very high price.

No less than the league’s all-time leader in points in six-time champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar found out that his game-worn jersey was sold for an even bigger amount during a Dallas auction event held recently, according to Jeff Maillet of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

It even had his former last name in it, as he was previously known as Lew Alcindor.

“Recently, his 1971 NBA All-Star Game jersey sold for $106,250 as part of a “Heroes of Sport” collection through Dallas-based Heritage Auctions. Among basketball items, it was auctioned for the highest price.”

The jersey was worn during the 1971 All-Star Game, where Abdul-Jabbar shone with a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds, leading the Western Conference to a win, 108-107. He was a unanimous choice to be part of the exhibition game, as he averaged 31.7 points per game over the entire campaign and was a big reason why Milwaukee Bucks also won the championship that year.

The record sale of Abdul-Jabbar’s jersey is a testament to how much of an impact he made in the game of basketball. He played professionally for 20 years, and won almost all awards the league has to offer, topped by six MVP trophies. He was a 19-time All-Star.
