Giannis Antetokounmpo recently signed his supermax extension with the Milwaukee Bucks, proving that he has confidence in winning a championship in Milwaukee. When appearing on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Antetokounmpo referenced Michael Jordan as someone he wants to emulate when it comes to his championship aspirations.

“One of the greatest players, Michael Jordan, and his team, he got to the playoffs and he got he got hurt. He got eliminated, he was disappointed. He went through the struggles. It’s going to take time.”

By signing his five-year, $228.2 million extension, Giannis has extended the window for the Bucks to win an NBA title. However, Antetokounmpo isn't content with only making the playoffs as he re-upped with the Bucks in hopes to secure his first championship soon.

In the past four seasons, the Bucks have been eliminated in the first round of the postseason twice. At the same time, Milwaukee has advanced to the Conference Finals just once in that same span.

With that being said, Giannis has cemented himself as one of the premier superstars in the NBA. The Greek forward has won back-to-back MVPs, compiling career-highs in points (29.5) and rebounds (13.6) during the 2019-2020 season.

Of course, when it comes to winning championships in the NBA, Jordan is used as the pinnacle of success. Jordan won six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls and is considered the greatest player in NBA history by many fans.
Throughout his first sevens seasons with the Bucks, Giannis hasn't gotten a chance to reach the NBA Finals yet. Despite not having much playoff success yet, Antetokounmpo realizes that it took time and patience for Jordan to begin winning titles.
