Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo recruited veteran swingman Wesley Matthews to Milwaukee this past summer.

Antetokounmpo called Matthews, but he was working out and missed the call.

However, Wesley called the Bucks star forward back and the rest is history.

Via Eric Nehm of The Athletic:

“He was working out … and called me right back,” Antetokounmpo said. “I told him, ‘Look. You can defend. You can knock down shots. You’re a great person. You’re a great human being first of all. You can help this team be better. At the end of the day, you haven’t won a championship, right? I haven’t won a championship either. We have to bring a group together that wants that and wants that bad.’ ”

Giannis picked the perfect player to recruit to the Bucks. Matthews is a great 3-and-D guy who fits with Milwaukee quite well.

In 58 games this season for the Bucks coming into Wednesday, Matthews is averaging 7.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. The 33-year-old Texas native is shooting 40.1 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from beyond the arc and 75.9 percent from the free throw line.

Just like last season, the Bucks have the best record in the NBA. Now that Kawhi Leonard is out West playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, most pundits have the Bucks coming out of the East pretty easily this time around.
