After the Milwaukee Bucks' disappointing exit from the playoffs, rumors immediately surfaced of the possibility that they would make a run at Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Chris Paul.

However, Eric Nehm and Sam Amick of The Athletic report that it's unlikely that the Bucks bring in the veteran point guard to pair with reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo:

As for the reported prospect of the Bucks pursuing Oklahoma City point guard Chris Paul as a possible solution to the roster deficiencies, sources with knowledge of ownership’s thinking said it is highly unlikely. The cost of bringing him aboard — Paul is owed $41.3 million next season and has a player option worth $44.2 million in the 2021-22 campaign — and the potential difficulty of bringing Paul onto a roster already led by a strong personality in Antetokounmpo seems to limit the chances of the Bucks moving to pair the two All-Stars. All indications are that the Bucks would rather look elsewhere.

Paul may be a strong personality, but he and Milwaukee would seemingly be a great match for each other. Given The Greek Freak's playoff limitations, CP3 would bring a skill set that would help mitigate those issues. Likewise, the Bucks could give the 35-year old his best chance to win an NBA championship.

However, bringing in his hefty contract would certainly take a lot of financial creativity on the Bucks' part. This would entail giving up some key pieces. Still, if the Bucks want to keep the generational talent, they will need to pull off all the stops to convince him to stay ahead of 2021, when his current contract expires.

Antetokounmpo reportedly had a three-hour dinner with Bucks ownership over the weekend to discuss a variety of topics, including how the season went, how they under-performed in the postseason, and possible roster changes for next season. The parties reportedly came away from the meeting happy, and now we'll wait and see what happens in the future as this saga continues.
