Chicago Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson acknowledged the need to be patient with rookie point guard Coby White. Paxson reminded fans to let White grow at his own pace:

White has shown flashes of greatness as well as poor decision-making in Summer League. The speedy guard has been aggressive, but is struggling to get his shot to fall. He went 0-of-11 from 3-point range in his first two games and is at 3-of-26 overall.

This is why Paxson is preaching patience. Being a rookie point guard and being given the keys on offense is a tall task. It is rare that a rookie comes in and is immediately dominant at the 1-spot.

White is an excellent prospect who will certainly improve with time. His shooting percentages from the field and from deep can only go up. In college, he shot a respectable 42.3 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc. His NBA numbers might take a few years to get this high, but White has plenty of time to improve.

Within the next few seasons, White should be showing why the Bulls took the dynamic guard seventh overall to be their point guard of the future.
