Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart was back in action on Saturday following an eye infection in both eyes that forced him to miss the previous eight games. The 25-year-old opened up about his nasty injury, and discussed how he literally shared the moment with some of his teammates:

Just reading about Smart describing it already sounds disgusting, so we can't imagine how these photos actually looked. Tough luck for Smart's teammates who had to go through that agonizing experience — a visual that they will likely carry with them for the foreseeable future.

Nevertheless, the important things is that Smart was able to make his return on Saturday, logging seven points, a 3-pointer, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals in 23 minutes off the Boston Bench.

Unfortunately for Marcus Smart and the C's, his return would be spoiled by the defending champs, with the Raptors coming away with a 113-97 victory at TD Garden.

Despite Kemba Walker's heroics — the Celtics guard accounted for 30 points (on 11-of-23 shooting), three 3-pointers, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals — his effort was overshadowed by a vintage Kyle Lowry performance. The veteran Raptors point guard was outstanding, putting up 30 points (10-of-17 from the floor, 5-of-6 from the line), five 3-pointers, four rebounds, seven assists, and a couple of steals to lead his team to victory.

This defeat ends Boston's five-game winning streak. The Celtics are still an impressive 22-8 on the season, which is good for third in the Eastern Conference. They've dealt with a number of key injuries this season, making their prolific record even more impressive.

Boston will now prepare for a New Year's Eve matchup against the Charlotte Hornets in Kemba's return to his old stomping grounds. It should be an emotional night for Walker.
