The Los Angeles Chargers have a lot of tough decisions to make this offseason, and two of them involve a couple of their most important players in Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon.

Rivers and Gordon are both set to be free agents in March, and there seems to be a chance that neither returns to the Chargers.

On Wednesday, general manager Tom Telesco spoke out on the status of both players.

“Well he’s a free agent so there’s a lot of moving parts that come with that,” Telesco said of Rivers on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “… Didn’t make the playoffs and had a rough year but Philip still has good snaps in him. I think I can see that, I think everybody can see that. He still has some good snaps. He didn’t play his best in every game but guess what, our team didn’t play its best in every game either. We only had five wins. I think he still has plenty of good snaps in him but like I said, he’s a free agent.”

That isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for Rivers, who has spent his entire NFL career with the Chargers but is coming off of one of his worst seasons.

As for Gordon? Telesco praised the running back, but he was non-committal on him for 2020.

“I love Melvin Gordon. He’s been a great player for us,” Telesco said. “He’s a player that we trade up in the first round (for), we drafted him. He came in and has done an excellent job for us. But he’s a free agent and we have to try and figure out what’s the best for our football team as we move into 2020 and beyond.”

Remember: Gordon held out through the first several weeks of the regular season and was never given the deal he wanted from Los Angeles, so it seems relatively safe to say that he will be playing elsewhere next year unless he takes a hometown discount.

The Chargers were one of the league's most disappointing teams in 2019, going 5-11.
