The Kansas City Chiefs managed to grab a solid win over the New England Patriots in what was a decent outing from Patrick Mahomes. However, the reigning MVP revealed that he didn't play this all-important game in the best condition possible.

According to ESPN's Adam Teicher, the quarterback revealed that he wasn't exactly feeling good with his throwing hand. This performance probably contributed to his rather average outing.

This explains why Mahomes, usually a quarterback who can throw for 300 yards with one eye closed, only had an okay outing of 283 yards and one touchdown. After all, it's hard to imagine Mahomes coming up short against a quarterback as elite as Tom Brady.

However, the injury doesn't tell the entire story about Mahomes' poor outing as of late. Looking at his past two performances, it can be seen that he hasn't been playing at an insanely great level. While his team managed to win over the LA Chargers and the Oakland Raiders, both of these games saw Mahomes finish with less than 200 passing yards.

His poor run of form is not the only thing that stopped Mahomes from playing a terrific game against the Patriots. The New England defense is one of the best in the NFL. They've limited many a powerful offensive team to tightly-contested games. The Patriots secondary definitely had an effect on his inability to complete passes.

However, his receiving corps bailed him out. Moreover, clever tricks like Travis Kelce's wildcat play helped secure the win against the Patriots.

With this result, Mahomes has performed rather poorly over the past three games. He needs to shake off his poor form quickly if he wants to win the Super Bowl.
