Lou Williams received a contract extension from the L.A. Clippers but his teammate DeAndre Jordan might be happier than he is right now. Jordan posted his thoughts on the matter on his Twitter account to let Williams know he’s not going anywhere for dinner without him.

For a player who nearly made it to an All-Star team this year, the contract extension was definitely more than a fair exchange. And a welcome one at that.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Yahoo! Sports, the Clippers and Lou Williams have agreed to a contract extension, “a three-year deal that includes a team option for the third season.”

“The contract is worth $24 million, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. The third year is guaranteed for $1.5 million that becomes fully guaranteed if he's not waived by July 15, 2020.”

Williams heaved a sigh of relief, knowing that he has found stability after bouncing around different teams despite being one of the best sixth men in recent years.

“It was nice for the organization to commit to me the same way I've committed to these guys this year,” Williams said. “In years past, these scenarios don't usually go my way, so it was nice for one to go my way and [for me to end up] somewhere I wanted to be. … It's just nice to have that one consistent — you know you're going to be somewhere for an extended period of time.”

The Williams deal has slowed down what was already a slow trade deadline week as the 6-1 guard has been the subject of trade rumors. With this deal, Williams is no longer eligible to be traded so any deal the Clippers make may instead include Jordan or another player on their roster.
