Thursday night in the NCAA will showcase two elite Big-12 teams! It's time to continue our college basketball odds series with an Oklahoma State-Texas Tech prediction and pick.

Oklahoma State is having a somewhat down year on the court, opposite of their football team who finished off a fantastic 2021-22 season. The Cowboys are just 8-6 on the season which isn't horrible, but not up to their usual expectations. They just recently upset No. 14 Texas two games ago but lost to West Virginia last time out. They now have a tough task ahead as they face No. 19 Texas Tech followed by No. 1 Baylor.

Texas Tech is feeling themselves after they just knocked off No. 1 Baylor to give them their first loss of the season. Baylor was bound to lose at some point but I don't think anyone expected Texas Tech to be the ones to beat them. They also beat No. 6 Kansas the game before, so Texas Tech could move into the top-10 if they get past OSU. They are No. 19 now and have a 12-3 record.

Why Oklahoma State Could Cover The Spread

This won't be easy for them to cover, but we have seen them upset teams in the past. Their opponent will be feeling pretty confident because of their last two wins, so OSU will need to rise to the occasion and try and elevate their game. OSU has lost three of their last five games so this is the time to really turn it around. A loss here puts them in a position where they might not be able to come back from. They need to get on track now or else they will be hurting the rest of the season.

The team doesn't have a real scoring threat. Their success comes from sharing the wealth. Bryce Williams is the team's leading scorer at 11.5 points per game. Guard Avery Anderson III is right behind him averaging 11.4 per game. So there isn't going to be anyone who really puts on a scoring clinic, rather as a team instead. They average just north of 72 points per game as a team but that might not be good enough for Texas Tech. If they want to cover this spread, they need to shut down the Texas Tech guards, who can really score.

Why Texas Tech Could Cover The Spread

This should be an easier game for them to cover. Guard Kevin McCullar returned to the team in the win over Baylor and he scored 12 points in 31 minutes. They needed his presence back badly and he was a huge reason why they upset the top team. Their leading scorer Terrence Shannon Jr. remains out but could return soon to the team. The last two wins should have this team feeling pretty confident but they can't be too cocky. The Big-12 is a very good conference and any team can beat anyone at any given time.

Texas Tech needs to make sure their defense is on point but they don't have to worry about facing anyone who is a real threat. OSU is going to perform based on how they do as a group, they don't rely on one or two people. If the Red Raiders can rebound and not let OSU get any second-chance points, then this shouldn't be a close game.

Final Oklahoma State-Texas Tech Prediction & Pick

Taking Texas Tech is the only right pick here. They just knocked off two top-6 teams in back-to-back games. They have to be feeling pretty confident and I don't think OSU is going to get in the way without an elite scoring threat.

Final Oklahoma State-Texas Tech Prediction & Pick: Texas Tech -7.5 (-114)
