Following a heartbreaking 19-16 overtime loss to the Houston Texans last week, the Dallas Cowboys are left dealing with questions about their offense. At least a few of these questions are seemingly being asked by people within the team, including wide receiver Allen Hurns, who’s already voiced out his displeasure of the team’s playcalling.

Allen criticized what he feels is a poorly-managed offense by the Cowboys and the impetus for him to lash out at it was a particular play in the third quarter of the Houston game in which quarterback Dak Prescott was intercepted. Hurns called it “the worst play call,” and though he’s already clarified that he wasn’t taking shots at Prescott nor offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, the latter obliged to take responsibility for the team’s maligned playcalling – at least from Hurns’ perspective.

“I'm the first one, if you had a better play against that coverage, to say we could've had a better call there,” Linehan said. “You can put that more on me. You don't have to put that on Allen Hurns.”

An internal rift is the last thing the Cowboys would like to have now that they’ve dropped to 2-3 after the loss to Houston, so it’s a prudent move from Scott Linehan to take the blame.

The Cowboys are currently 30th in the NFL in scoring offense with only 16.6 points per game average. They are also 28th with just 307.8 total yards per contest.
