Former New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher made headlines recently when it was reported that he was arrested for suspicion of DUI after he crashed his car while on the 101 freeway in California.

While there aren't a lot of details surfacing yet, a statement was issued by Fisher, and his girlfriend, Gloria Govan, who was with him during the accident. They thanked their supporters for the prayers and well wishes, according to a report by the Associated Press via Fox Sports.

”Beyond grateful that we are both OK and no one else was involved.”

The incident happened on early Sunday morning at around 3:01 am. The California Highway Patrol previously said that Fisher had been drinking, which caused the accident.

The former Los Angeles Lakers point guard is no stranger to controversies as he has been infamously involved in a feud with Matt Barnes, for being in a relationship with his former wife, Govan. There were also reports earlier this season that the two had a physical confrontation after Barnes apparently drove all the way to his house to confront Fisher.

No statement has been issued by the highway patrol once again but they are expected to come up with one as soon as results of their investigation have been released.
