The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of baseball's best teams and have World Series aspirations. They currently hold a comfortable lead in the NL West. Although this team already has talent, they would benefit from making some moves ahead of the 202 MLB trade deadline. They have already been linked to superstars such as Juan Soto and Luis Castillo. However, LA doesn't necessarily need to add another superstar.

What the Dodgers really need is extra depth on their roster. Today, we are taking a look at 3 sneaky trades the Dodgers should make ahead of the 2022 MLB trade deadline.

3 sneaky Dodgers trades ahead of 2022 MLB trade deadline

Will Crowe, Pirates

David Bednar is the popular trade candidate stemming from Pittsburgh. The Pirates closer made the All-Star team and has been impressive. However, Will Crowe would be a quality addition for the Dodgers' bullpen.

In 38 games this season, Crowe has pitched to the tune of a 3.31 ERA. He's produced a 23 percent strikeout rate. He's also allowed just a 22 percent hard hit rate which is down from 37 percent last year. There is no question Crowe has made strides in his third big league season.

Pittsburgh doesn't need to deal him away, but the Dodgers have enough prospect capital to entice the Pirates. They could realistically add Will Crowe and David Bednar. But acquiring Crowe in a solo deal would come at a cheaper cost.

Brandon Drury, Reds

Brandon Drury of the Cincinnati Reds isn't a top-tier trade candidate. But the Reds utility man is expected to draw interest ahead of the 2022 MLB trade deadline. Drury is a veteran who is slashing .278/.336/.528 in 2022. He will likely be an attractive option for LA given Chris Taylor's injury issues.

Drury would also be a relatively cheap option. Sure, Dodgers fans would love to build a trade package that nets them both Luis Castillo and Brandon Drury. But Drury is someone who would be a good addition with or without Castillo.

He features versatility which means Dave Roberts could spell his starters on a more consistent basis. And he can take over just about any position should someone get injured ahead of the playoffs.

Brandon Drury isn't a mandatory addition by any means. But he is a guy who would benefit the Dodgers moving forward.

Gregory Soto, Tigers

Gregory Soto is one of the most underrated relievers in MLB. This is mainly because his strong effort has been hidden behind the Detroit Tigers' poor play.

He is now a 2-time All-Star who owns a 2.59 ERA as of this story's publication. He also has 19 saves for Detroit.

But numbers are one thing. However, actually watching him pitch is a whole other story. He consistently throws in the high 90's and low 100's while mixing in nasty breaking pitches. Just take a look at this filthy 101 MPH heater, via Pitching Ninja.

Gregory Soto would compliment the Dodgers' bullpen. Whether he takes over closing duties or works in a setup role, this is a pitcher LA needs to look into adding.

Final thoughts

The Dodgers could realistically take a look at their roster and decide to stand pat ahead of the 2022 MLB trade deadline. But they shouldn't.

They want to reach the next level and bring another World Series championship to Los Angeles. Adding depth to the roster should be a necessity for the Dodgers before August 2nd.
