Rumors are circulating that the Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up top prospect Gavin Lux as MLB rosters expand in September, according to Ron Cervenka of Think Blue LA and Michael J. Duarte of NBC Sports Los Angeles:

Although Cervenka and Duarte have heard that Lux is on his way to Hollywood, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports that the Dodgers have not made a corresponding move in order to add him to the 40-man roster on Sunday, and he is not active for L.A.'s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks:

Lux, who is rated by MLB.com as the No.1 prospect in the Dodgers' system and the No. 9 prospect on the Top 100 list, has been tearing it up in the minor leagues this year. In 113 games at Double-A and Triple-A, Lux is slashing .347/.421/.607 with 26 homers and 10 stolen bases.

Though the move has yet to be confirmed, it would not be a surprise to see the Dodgers call Lux up to the bigs, particularly in light of utility infielder Max Muncy suffering a wrist fracture. The majority of Muncy's playing time came at second, and Lux's explosive potential with the bat is probably worth a look over other utility guys like Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor.

In case Lux's name sounds familiar, he was floated as a potential trade piece at the July deadline. With the Dodgers looking to trade for Pittsburgh Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez, the Bucs demanded that Lux be included in all trade negotiations. The Dodgers would not budge, electing to keep Lux.

If the rumors are true, Lux will have a chance to prove his worth at the big-league level.
