In a press conference after the Golden State Warriors lost against the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals, Draymond Green heavily criticized his own performance during the game.

Green states,

“I think it was my worst game of the series. […] I didn't do what I do for this team, I don't feel like I led my troops tonight and I feel like I was horrendous on the defensive end…”

Despite finishing with 37 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists, he says that he let his team down on the defensive side of his game. Generally, Green is a very strong defensive player and is the core defensive strength of the Warriors.

For the last two seasons, including this year, he came in second to Kawhi Leonard for NBA Defensive Player of the Year. The defensive side of the game is more important to Green. He explained that his best game was against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the regular season when he scored only 1 point, but he locked down his opponents.

In Game 1 and 2 versus Portland, Green played aggressive defense and had 3 and 4 blocks, respectively. However, on Saturday night the defensive strength of the Warriors was absent. Three players from the Blazers managed to score over 20 points, including Damian Lillard, who scored a playoff career-high 40 points. Green ends the interview saying him and his team will be better defensively in Game 4 and that they will come out with the win.
