With the Philadelphia Eagles taking Stanford University wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft on Friday night, speculation ensued that the Eagles could be trading fellow wideout Nelson Agholor.

But Eagles general manager Howie Roseman quickly shot those rumors down, saying that Agholor is a key piece of the team moving forward:

“Nelson's an important part of our football team,” said Roseman, according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “We're really excited to have him here. He's somebody who's continued to get better and better as a player. For us, having this type of depth and talent is something we're going to need.”

Agholor is entering the final year of his deal and is scheduled to make $9.4 million.

The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played all 16 games and hauled in 64 receptions for 736 yards and four touchdowns.

Agholor, who played his collegiate football at the University of Southern California, was originally selected by Philadelphia in the first round (20th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

His first couple of years in the NFL were quiet, as he failed to reach 400 yards receiving in either of his first two seasons, but he had a breakout year of sorts in 2017, catching 62 passes for 768 yards and eight scores in helping the Eagles win their first ever Super Bowl championship.

Philly won nine games and earned a Wild Card berth in the NFC playoffs this past season. The Birds then went on to defeat the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round before falling to the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round the following week.
