The Philadelphia Eagles have been in the market for a running back all offseason. It appears they may have their eye on Alabama running back Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs is touted as one of the best running backs in his class. Geoff Mosher said during an appearance on the Go Birds! Podcast that the Eagles are intrigued by Jacobs in the 2019 NFL Draft.

“I've been hearing that…don't be shocked if the Eagles take a running back in the first round. They really like Josh Jacobs.”

It is no secret that Philadelphia is in desperate need of some depth in the backfield. As of right now, they only have Corey Clement, and Wendell Smallwood listed as their ball-carriers. The Eagles have been linked to essentially every high-profile running back on the market this offseason such as Le'Veon Bell and Tevin Coleman. Even Mark Ingram reportedly made his way into their discussions. Unfortunately, none of them have come to fruition.

As a result, it appears they could be inclined to seek out a running back in the 2019 NFL Draft. There is no question that Jacobs is one of the more intriguing prospects in his class. He flashed his versatile skill set while at Alabama after finishing the 2018 campaign with 640 yards and a team-high 11 touchdowns while hauling in 20 receptions for 247 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned 14 kicks for 428 yards and one touchdown.

Jacobs certainly shows plenty of promise as a potential workhorse back. Even if the Eagles decide to run their backfield by committee once again, he should provide them plenty of bang for their buck as a playmaker on special teams as well.
