On Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons could have probably won its game had receiver Julio Jones caught a pass from Matt Ryan in the endzone. It was an easy pass. Jones was more open than a 24/7 convenient store. Yet, he dropped it. And no one is taking it harder than Julio Jones himself.

“I didn't take advantage of the opportunity,” Jones told reporters following the game. “It was no excuses or anything like that. It's just a missed [opportunity].”

“It's just a missed [opportunity]. That's it,” Jones said. “I'm not worried about people. It's all about my brothers in here because I'm going out there playing for them. I'm not playing for people, ‘Oh, I let people down.' I go to work and battle with these men every day. When that play came up, I felt like I could have made a better play in that situation than I did.”

It is a real shame that this is the focus of Jones' game. Other than the drop, he was magnificent, finishing with six catches for a season-high 118 yards in the game.

His QB had his back in the postgame presser.

“One hundred out of 100 times, he's going to make plays,” Ryan said. “He made more plays in this league than probably anybody. Sometimes it happens. I ain't worried one bit about it.”

Anyway, while fans would have obviously preferred he caught the ball, the Falcons should feel grateful they have a receiver as talented as Jones on the roster. Yes. Yes. He messed up. But he's human. He's also one of the league's best players at his position.
