The 2018 NFL Draft is expected to be one of the more quarterback-heavy affairs in recent years. Among the notable prospects is Wyoming's Josh Allen.

Allen is projected to go as high as No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns. However, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, he cannot stop gushing about his respect for New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur:

“I’d want to play for him because he just had this kind of silent vibe to him,” Allen said. “He was kind of reserved, and at the same time I can feel his presence and understand how much he loves football, how much he knows football. He put me up on the board, he was talking over some things with me and it was just coming out of his mouth so quickly and so smooth, and he’s a brilliant mind. And he’s gonna be doing some really big things in New York.”

Allen's intrigue regarding the Giants should come as no surprise. Despite their disastrous 2017 campaign, the prospect of developing under the likes of Shurmur and quarterback Eli Manning already has him giddy.  Furthermore, young weapons like wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard spell further optimism for the young prospect's future.

Allen is perhaps the rawest prospect in a class that includes USC quarterback Sam Darnold and UCLA's Josh Rosen. However, his physical tools have blown away quarterback-hungry teams within the top five. He has done a solid job thus far of following through on the hype with a dominant performance at the NFL Combine. That said, New York may just have to use their No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft if they want to acquire their franchise quarterback of the future.
