A pair of New York football rivals came together on the gridiron earlier this week. New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley put in some work with New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold on Wednesday, with Barkley on the receiving end of some throws from Darnold, via SNYJets.

Barkley and Darnold were drafted consecutively in 2018, and both players are cornerstones of their respective organizations heading into Year 3.

Darnold showed signs of improvement in his sophomore campaign, overcoming an early bout with mono to post a 7-6 record in 13 starts. The 23-year-old completed close to 62 percent of his passes, throwing for over 3,000 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Barkley struggled to replicate his magnificent rookie year, though injuries played a part in his season as well. The former Penn State star was hampered by an ankle injury suffered during a Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he still managed to rush for over 1,000 yards on 4.6 yards per carry.

The two New York stars are currently slated to play each other in the first preseason game of the year. But for now, Barkley and Darnold are helping one another prepare for 2020.
