The Atlanta Hawks have been hit by the injury bug so far this season, and currently have four key players sidelined. Despite their unfortunate situation, general manager Travis Schlenk recently made it known that they won’t apply for the hardship exception from the NBA. This stems from their belief that they will soon have all their players available again, according to Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

As of this writing, the team is missing the services of Mike Muscala, who is day-to-day with a sprained ankle, while versatile forward Ersan Ilyasova continues to recover from a knee injury, but could return anytime soon. DeAndre Bembry and Miles Plumlee are both out indefinitely, due to a wrist and quadriceps injury, respectively.

With a 2-11 record, it will be crucial for the Hawks to have all their players back as early as possible, especially as they enter a stretch where they play six of their next seven games at home. It will be a big chance for them to gain some ground, and turn around their fortunes if they can string a few wins together. Despite being projected to miss out on the playoffs, as they are currently rebuilding, they still have some veterans who understands what’s needed to win, and could lead them in surprising a lot of people if they can start improving their record soon.
