Atlanta Hawks rising star Trae Young was one of the many NBA players who paid tribute to the great Kobe Bryant on the day we all learned of the Los Angeles Lakers legend's tragic passing. The 21-year-old point guard even opted to wear the No. 8 jersey on Sunday against the Washington Wizards in honor of Bryant.

As it turns out, Kobe may have actually been with Young in spirit on Sunday — something that even Trae himself believes to be true:

Not only did Young achieve a feat that was preceded by Bryant himself in 2006, but moreover, the prized Hawks rookie took 24 shots on the evening while also going 81% from the charity stripe on 13-of-16 shooting. That is indeed a pretty eerie set of coincidences, which further proves how Young channeled his inner Kobe Bryant against Washington.

Young did an outstanding job in honoring his idol, logging a game-high 45 points (on 13-of-24 shooting), six 3-pointers, six rebounds, 14 assists, and a steal in 39 minutes of play. The 6-foot-1 point guard carried his side to a 152-133 blowout victory against the Wizards.

Atlanta has been terrible this season, currently sitting at the very bottom of the standings in the East with a 12-35 record. At this point, only the 10-37 Golden State Warriors have a worse record than the Hawks. Young cannot be blamed for his team's miserable campaign, however, with the newly minted All-Star currently averaging 29.5 points (on 44.8 percent shooting), 4.6 rebounds, 8.9 assists, and 1.2 steals while also knocking down 3.5 triples per ballgame.
