In his first season with the Charlotte Hornets, center Dwight Howard has quietly put up some very solid numbers in his first 16 games. So far, Howard is averaging a double-double for the 14th straight season with 14.6 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocked shots in 29.6 minutes of action per contest.
According to a tweet this afternoon from Basketball Reference, Howard now has 11 seasons in which he averages at least 12 rebounds per game. This incredible statistic has him only behind two NBA Hall of Famers in Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell, who have accomplished the rebounding feat in 14 and 13 seasons, respectively. Howard is now also tied at 11 seasons of 12-plus rebounds per game with legends Bob Pettit and Dolph Schayes.

That is very impressive, regardless of your opinion of Dwight Howard's character. Despite all the flack that the Hornets big man has gotten over the years for his attitude and questionable toughness, the eight-time NBA All-Star has consistently been one of the league's best centers.
The Hornets are now Howard's fifth team in 14 seasons after he spent the majority of his career as a dominant force with the Orlando Magic, where he helped lead them to the 2009 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although the team is just 7-9 on the season, Howard and the Hornets will look to win their third game in a row on Wednesday when they host the Washington Wizards.
