The rating that Walker got is the seventh highest among point guards so far. Only Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics, Chris Paul of the Houston Rockets, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, and John Wall of the Washington Wizards have higher grades than the Hornets spitfire court general, per NBA2K19.com.

Whether Walker deserves the rating or not is up for debate, but let it be known that incoming second-year Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, Rookie of the Year winner and Philadelphia 76ers point forward Ben Simmons, and Boston Celtics phenom Jayson Tatum all have an 87 rating.

Walker has been an All-Star in each of the last two seasons, but he still flies under the radar of most fans, mainly due to the fact that the Hornets have yet to show signs that they are a legitimate NBA title contender. Walker can join one, though, next season, as he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019.

Walker, who was drafted ninth overall by Charlotte in 2011, averaged 22.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 80 games last season for the Hornets. Despite Walker’s best efforts, the Hornets failed to make it to the playoffs, finishing the 2017-18 campaign with a 36-46 record, identical to what they had in the previous season.
