LiAngelo Ball is coming off an impressive showing in the NBA Summer League for the Charlotte Hornets and has made a serious case for a roster spot. While it's not yet determined if he'll get a shot, LiAngelo did everything asked of him, averaging 9.6 points, two boards, and 1.6 steals per game.

LiAngelo Ball recently spoke on his journey to this point and how he's set himself apart from brothers LaMelo and Lonzo. Via The Athletics's Shams Charania:

“I just listen to my coaches really. I could do whatever they want me to do,” LiAngelo Ball said. “If they want me to get the ball and score, I could do that. If they want me to run off screens, I could do that. I just make sure I work on everything, so when they do ask me to do something, I’ll be 100 percent and ready to go.”

“I just know I had to stick to my own path. I can’t do what ‘Melo and ‘Zo did because they had different paths. I know I had to stay grounded and stay locked in one spot. Charlotte felt like home.”

His path has been very different, to say the least. LiAngelo Ball went to UCLA but was kicked out in his freshman year after shoplifting during a trip in China. He then opted to go play professionally in Lithuania before getting a shot with the Detroit Pistons last year in training camp, where the guard was ultimately cut.

It hasn't been a journey full of stardom like his brothers, but LiAngelo Ball is now proving he deserves a chance in the league. His love for the game has never wavered and that's definitely one of the main reasons he's still out here grinding.
