Utah Jazz super rookie Donovan Mitchell will be starting tonight in Game 2 of their first-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The good news was posted by the Utah Jazz via Twitter:

To recall, Mitchell suffered a foot injury in Game 1, after Corey Brewer accidentally stepped on it during a play. Mitchell was in immense pain. He was even asked by the trainers to sit it out but the rookie insisted that he wanted to play. He finished the game with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

After the game, an MRI test revealed a left foot contusion. Prior to being cleared to start, Mitchell shared that he is determined to play but will not push it. As reported by Eric Woody of the Deseret News, Mitchell said:

“I’m real determined on playing but if my body can’t, I’m not going to push it now and not be available the rest of the series. I think it’s a matter of being smart with it.”

The Jazz are down 0-1 against the Thunder. Game 2 will be back in Oklahoma and they are looking to at least steal one at home.

The Jazz are in a position that they didn't expect at the beginning of the season. Some believed they were looking to tank. Yet with the excellent play of Mitchell along with other veterans, the wins piled up for the Jazz. Now, here they are in the playoffs, in search for that title.

The chances look slim for the Jazz squad. But they have enough skill and chemistry to match up against contenders. Mitchell just needs to be healthy in the next coming games.
