Utah Jazz guard Ricky Rubio and Phoenix Suns forward Marquese Chriss are at the center of a scuffle after a rough play in their matchup Thursday night.

In the video posted by Bleacher Report, Chriss is seen forcibly pushing Rubio to the ground while the latter confronts Jared Dudley.

From the video, it is clear that Dudley was the first one to push Rubio unnecessarily. Chriss eventually entered the picture to defend his teammate. His push might have been too strong, influenced by the frustration he felt from the previous play in which he thought he was fouled.

Rubio, who stands at 6-foot-4, is relatively tall compared to most people. He may look lanky but has the considerable mass to boot. Yet in the video, he was seemingly reduced to a rag doll by the 6-foot-10, 240 lb Chriss. Rubio may have overreacted a bit to sell the call. But given that Chriss didn't hold back, it may hurt for Rubio tomorrow morning.

Scuffles like this are always expected in NBA games. No matter what team or what part of the season it is, competitiveness is embedded in the mind and souls of these players. All they care about is getting the win at the end of the day, even if it means shoving their foes to the ground.

When these fights occur, it has always been the referees who we sympathize the most. When a fight is about to ensue, more and more players jump in. Some take the role of the arbiter, opting to separate the two parties rather than taking sides. But most of the time they make a choice to protect their teammates.
