New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has been cleared to play in the team's Week 6 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.

Jets coach Adam Gase had previously said that if Darnold was cleared, he would be the starter, so he should be under center on Sunday.

Darnold said on Monday that he was feeling good, but he still needed to wait for the doctors to give him the all-clear so he could play.

“I feel good. Energy’s awesome,” Darnold said during his weekly appearance on “The Michael Kay Show” on ESPN Radio via the New York Post. “Just looking to play this week, but gotta wait for the doctor’s orders tomorrow. I’m excited to hear the news, I have a feeling it’s going to be good news. I thought maybe it would come last week, but had to wait it out again. Hopefully this week it’s better news and I get to practice and get ready for a game on Sunday.”

Since Darnold has been out, the Jets offense has been a disaster, so it should be a massive boost that Darnold will be back on the field. Trevor Sieman and Luke Falk were the fill in's while Darnold was out, and they both struggled. Falk completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 416 yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Beating the Cowboys is still going to be an uphill battle on Sunday, but this at least gives the offense a chance to be competitive again.
