It is safe to say that New York Jets starting quarterback Sam Darnold is pretty high on Gang Green newcomer and veteran wide receiver Breshad Perriman. With Perriman managing to revitalize his career as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, it appears as though Darnold already likes what he sees from Perriman as training camp continues to ramp up.

“He's super explosive, a very explosive athlete who gets in and out of cuts,” Darnold recently said of Perriman, via the team's official website. “Big dude as well. He's everything you want in a receiver and we're just looking forward to having him this year.”

Perriman signed a free agent contract with the Jets earlier this offseason as New York lost out on the services of current Carolina Panthers wide receiver Robby Anderson, who inked a deal of his own. Originally a first-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2016, the soon-to-be 27-year-old Perriman has also suited up for both the Cleveland Browns and aforementioned Buccaneers.

With his best single-season effort coming as a member of the Buccaneers just last season, Perriman registered 36 receptions on 70 targets for 645 yards and six touchdowns.

Prior to last season, he produced just five career touchdown receptions as Perriman will now look to truly breakout for the Jets in 2020. Of course, Perriman was previously playing behind the wide receiver tandem of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in Tampa Bay while New York will surely open things up for the journeyman pass-catcher.
