The Sacramento Kings haven't made the NBA playoffs in 15 years. Davion Mitchell hasn't even been there for one, but he already wants to change that.

In a recent sit down with reporters, Mitchell recently spoke out about helping the Kings end their longstanding playoff drought.

Via Marina Drab of Sactown Royalty:

“I feel like we’ve got the pieces,” Mitchell said. “I feel like we’ve got everything to make the playoffs. For me, just being myself on the court. I heard the past few years we have not been that good defensively, so if we turn that around, we can win more games and we can easily get to the playoffs.”

The Kings lottery pick definitely put it nicely as the team ranked as the worst team in the NBA defensively last season. They placed 30th out of 30 in defensive rating at 116.5, the only team to even hit the 116 mark.

That's probably part of the reason why the Kings selected Davion Mitchell. He's a proven winner given that he led his Baylor Bears to the NCAA championship last March. He's also a tenacious defender who can up the ante on any backcourt opponent.

The Sacramento Kings aren't expected to make the playoffs by most outlets. But Davion Mitchell doesn't care about your projections.
