The Sacramento Kings suffered another drubbing this time against the Los Angeles Clippers to snag their eighth loss of the season. After the game, Kings head coach Luke Walton criticized the efforts of the team, most especially to its backcourt duo of De'Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield.

“I think that as two of our guys that have been here the longest, that obviously we feel very high about the types of players they are with the contracts, we need the leadership, the voice, the finding a way to bring it every night,” Walton said via The Athletic. “… We’re excited about those guys being two of our main guys but we as a group have to find a way to bring that winning energy every single time we play and step on the court.”

Walton and his men held their ground against the Clippers in the first half where they managed to keep in striking distance. However, the visiting team pulled away in the third quarter with a 37-point outburst to finish the tilt with a 138-100 beating against the Kings.

Paul George continued his good showing with 26 points, four rebounds, and two assists followed by Kawhi Leonard who added 27 points and six assists of his own. George managed to exceed the production of the Kings' backcourt duo where Fox was only limited to 14 points while Hield contributed nine points and five assists, via The Athletic‘s Jason Jones.

After the loss, the Kings slid to a 5-8 tally while the Clippers improved to a 9-4 record. The backcourt duo's performance in their most recent tilt served as a discouraging sight to see for the team's decision-makers after they previously signed both to fresh contracts.

Fox agreed to a lucrative five-year, $163 million deal during the offseason while Hield inked a four-year, $94 million contract extension back in 2019. Hopefully, both players will get to overcome their slow start and help the Kings end its two-game losing skid against the New Orleans Pelicans on Jan. 17.
