Sacramento Kings star big man Domantas Sabonis won't be available for Wednesday's clash against the Denver Nuggets. Sabonis was handed a one-game suspension by the NBA due to the 25-year-old making contact with an official during the Kings' clash against the New York Knicks, for which he was ejected.

NBA Communications released an official statement regarding Sabonis' one-game ban, which he will serve Wednesday night:

Per NBA Communications, Sabonis will be “suspended one game without pay after aggressively confronting and making contact with a game official” during Monday night's loss to the Knicks. Sabonis received a technical foul for demonstrating unsportsmanlike conduct after being whistled for a foul and was subsequently ejected. The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter against the Knicks, as frustrations were boiling over in the team's loss.

NBA President of League Operations Byron Spruell announced the decision on Wednesday morning.

This will be a huge loss for the Kings, as Sabonis has played a key role for the team since making the deal to bring him over from the Indiana Pacers. The Kings sacrificed a key part of their future in order to land Sabonis, offloading Tyrese Haliburton in the exchange.

Since joining the Kings, Sabonis has posted averages of 17.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists across 11 games. He's logging 32.7 minutes per night with his new team, though they'll have to look to the bench for someone to step up and fill the vacancy left by the two-time All-Star on Wednesday.

With Sabonis sidelined, Trey Lyles, Alex Len, and Damian Jones could potentially be in line to receive a boost in minutes against the Nuggets.
