Sacramento Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton is on track to return to the team soon after he cleared the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Haliburton announced the development on Twitter, going full Adrian Wojnarowski (or Shams Charania if you're not a big fan of Woj), confirming that he is fine now after his short bout with the protocols. To recall, the Kings youngster entered protocols Sunday before their showdown with the Houston Rockets.

For what it's worth, Tyrese Haliburton's announcement came amid talks that he could be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a package for Ben Simmons. An earlier rumor stated that the Kings have “considered packaging” Haliburton alongside Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes along with two first-round picks to land Simmons, Tobias Harris and Matisse Thybulle.

More recent reports have since claimed that those talks are not true and Sacramento is firm on building around Tyrese and fellow guard De'Aaron Fox.

It remains to be seen what the Kings really plan to do, especially amid another poor season when they are likely to miss the playoffs for the 16th straight campaign. Clearly, some changes are needed for the team, though they seem to be confident that Haliburton and Fox could usher a truly new era in SacTown.
