It appears Kristaps Porzingis isn't just good at basketball.

A boxer from Latvia who helped Porzingis train in July said it was no surprise to see him recover so quickly from an ankle injury that looked quite bad when it happened. Mairis Briedis, who is 23-0, said the superior athleticism of Porzingis contributed to his fast healing.

But that's not all the Latvian boxer said, adding that Porzingis could excel at practically any sport — even boxing, per Mark Berman of the New York Post.

“Kristaps is remarkably talented as an athlete,’’ Briedis wrote, according to a translation. “It’s not about basketball being his sport. He showed talent in boxing and other sports we tried together and was a very quick learner. Not everyone understands what’s asked from them and how it should be executed as fast as Kristaps does. If it wasn’t for basketball, he might have been successful in any other sport he would have chosen. He’s very coordinated and smart.”

It's no doubt that Porzingis is a great athlete. He's over 7 feet tall and has skills that many NBA guards don't have. It's not crazy to think The Unicorn would fare well playing any other sport that requires some of the natural skills he already possesses.

But a boxer? That's interesting.
