While attempting to save the ball before going out of bounds, New York Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis suffered an ankle injury and was forced to exit the game early versus the Miami Heat. Justise Winslow inadvertently stepped on his foot, but the Latvian international was seen grimacing in pain after, as replays showed his ankle was tweaked during the sequence.

He was seen limping off to their locker room and even had to be helped out by his teammates, as he couldn’t apply any pressure to it, which explains the amount of pain he was experiencing.

Tests were done immediately to check on the extent of the injury and fortunately for him and the Knicks, X-rays came back negative and he will be available to return to the game, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley.

The Knicks definitely dodged a bullet on that one. They can consider themselves lucky, as the incident appeared worse than how it turned out. The team can also breathe a huge sigh of relief now, as Porzingis is expected to continue playing at a high level and lead them to a win on the night and moving forward.
