When Kristapas Porzingis went down with an injury, the NBA world collectively held their breath, and when it was announced it was a torn ACL, there were plenty of well-wishers sending thoughts in the way of the New York Knicks big man.

But there is at least one guy who thinks this injury will actually end up benefiting the Knicks in the long run. Charles Barkley was speaking on TNT's set when he had this to say,

“He was on the right track to being a helluva player,’’ Barkley said during All-Star weekend festivities Thursday night. “ It’s really unfortunate. They had done a good job. I like the (Frank) Ntilikina guy. (Tim) Hardaway Jr. was playing well. I still love the (Enes) Kanter deal. The Knicks are going to get better. The problem with you people in New York is you all have zero patience. If you keep drafting and adding players, sooner or later, you’re going to have a good team. But they never have patience in New York.’’

Porzingis is a really good NBA talent, but even with him they still had an uphill climb to make the playoffs and are probably at least out one, maybe two years.

With his injury, it means more losses and a better draft position in a draft that is loaded with talent that should be able to come in right away and help teams. If the season ended today they would have the ninth-best odds to get the number one overall pick in next year's top-heavy draft.
